Social Media Leads to Arrest of Outlet Mall Thief, Suspected of Taking Coach Purses Worth Thousands

Snoqualmie Police [in service of North Bend] said on Thursday, March 5, 2015, two young male suspects with Russian accents made off with nine pursues from the North Bend Outlet Mall Coach Store –  purses valued at $3500.

That afternoon SPD released a Coach Store surveillance photo of the suspects via the department’s social media accounts, which led to a the photo being featured on the KOMO evening newscast.

Snoqualmie Police Chief Steve McCulley stated via email, as a result of tips from that KOMO story, one suspect was identified. With the assistance of Immigration of Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, the suspect was tracked to the Mountlake Terrace area and was taken into custody by Snoqualmie Police officers.

McCulley said the second suspect was also identified and his department hopes to have another arrest soon. The SPD case officer is also working with King and Snohomish County detectives to tie the suspects to similar and related crimes in the Puget Sound area.
