Snow Hits North Bend; Snoqualmie Valley Schools On Time, Limited Transportation "Area A"

In case you missed it, it snowed yesterday on the first full day of spring – courtesy of a strong convergence zone that set up shop over us.

Snoqualmie Valley Schools are open on time, but with limited transportation to Area A – North Bend, Friday, March 22, 2013.  Here’s how that breaks down for bus routes in that area:

  • Cedar Falls Road – No side roads serviced past River Bend and no service past Wilderness Rim. If road closes – there will be no bus transportation on Cedar Falls Road.
  • Wilderness Rim – Main road only, no side street service.
  • 468th Ave. SE & Edgewick Road – All side roads meet at Edgewick Road. Route goes to 464th Way SE. and turns around at the Y.
  • Middle Fork Road – Bus will turn around at 473rd Ct.
  • Mt Si Road – Pick up main road to River Point.
  • Forster Woods – Pick up at the main entrance.
  • Rock Creek Ridge – Pick up at the main entrance.
  • Uplands – Pick up at 415th

Highway 18 was closed for hours yesterday due to multiple spinouts and stalled vehicles due to  heavy snow.  Police had the highway blocked off at the interchange with I-90, messing up evening traffic near Snoqualmie Ridge.  I-90 eastbound was closed at exit 34 near North Bend all the way over Snoqualmie Pass.  It was reported close to 1,000 cars were stuck in the standstill last night while snow continued to dump.

Not all areas of the Snoqualmie Valley saw snow, though.  The higher elevations of North Bend appear to be the snow winners, with Wilderness Rim reporting about 4 inches.  Cedar Falls way finally got a plow around 7-8PM.

That convergence zone fired back up this morning in North King County/Snohomish County and it is snowing heavily in the Mill Creek area.

Happy Spring!
