Snoqualmie closes Stillwater Bog observation deck indefinitely

If you’re out and about enjoying the trails around Snoqualmie Ridge, there’s one spot you won’t be able to visit for a while.

The City of Snoqualmie announced that the Parks Department was forced to indefinitely close the Stillwater Bog observation deck as of May 9th. Much of the decking and railing is failing, making it unsafe for visitors.

According to a city announcement, over the next few months the parks department will be planning the best approach to rebuild the ‘beautiful asset.’

The Stillwater Bog is located near Snoqualmie Community Park, behind Autumn Ave. The preserve protects a sphagnum moss bog and freshwater wetland system, which according to the city’s website, are now extremely rare in the Puget Sound basin. The observation deck was built as the first phase of Snoqualmie Ridge was constructed in the late 1990’s.

Per the announcement the city “thanks for your patience as we work toward the best solution to making the required repairs.”
