Small North Bend Dance Studio nominated for BIG national award, owner Hollywood-bound

A small dance studio in North Bend is getting some big, national accolades thanks to the choreography talent of its owner.

Ignite Dance & Yoga owner Katie Black was honored with a rare opportunity earlier this year when she was nominated for the Industry Dance Awards for Outstanding Performance in Jazz. Only nine routines across the country were chosen from multiple, national dance competitions held throughout the year.

Katie choreographed an amazing dance routine, which was performed by ‘Unsteady,’ which is Ignite’s select Jazz dance group.

That routine is soon sending Katie to the Avalon Theater in Hollywood, CA for the 2017 Industry Dance Awards and Dancers Against Cancer Benefit Concert on August 16th.  She’s being flown down to attend the ceremony.

Jill Rule of Ignite Dance said this is a prestigious award in the dance industry, describing it as “a high honor.”

The Snoqualmie Valley can have a say in the results too. Last month the public voted for one of the nine nominees in the Outstanding Performance in Jazz category.

Good Luck, Katie and Ignite – and congratulations!
