Helicopter rescues climber stuck on Mount Si haystack

King County Sheriff’s Office Guardian 2 helicopter responded to the haystack of Mount Si for a cliffed out hiker/climber Thursday afternoon, August 9, 2018.

King County Search and Rescue crews were initially dispatched to Mount Si, but were then called off in lieu of the faster helicopter rescue.

Guardian 2 headed out to Mount Si around 12:45PM. The climber was stuck and clinging to the side of the haystack when the helicopter approached.  The man was successfully hoisted off by rescue personnel and transported to Torguson Park in downtown North Bend.

The King County Sheriff’s Office released a video of the rescue. They did not release information about how the climber became stuck. The haystack stretches about 300- 500 feet above the Mount Si trail summit.
