Fire Chief: minor accident in crosswalk important reminder for drivers to pay extra attention at intersections

Snoqualmie Fire Chief Mark Correira said a car vs. bicycle accident that luckily did not seriously injure a young rider should serve as a reminder to citizens to pay extra attention at intersections, especially during times when school begins and ends.

The accident occurred on Thursday, June 7, 2018 around 3:40PM on Snoqualmie Ridge – at the intersection of SE Ridge Street and Fairway Ave SE, about a half mile from Cascade View Elementary School.

Chief Correira said a vehicle traveling at a low-speed ‘bumped’ the bicyclist while he was crossing the 4-way intersection in the crosswalk. Police, fire and aid crews responded to the scene.

Correira said aid crews did not transport the child to a hospital –  that the parents came to the scene to get him. A fire department tweet from the scene stated injuries were minor.

Police officers had the intersection blocked for a short time while they investigated and the young bicyclist was evaluated.
