Collision causes truck to spill lumber, blocks eastbound I-90 near Snoqualmie

The busy holiday travel weekend started on a somewhat sour note – at least when it came to traffic.

A  semi truck collision on eastbound I-90 just west of SR 18 caused a truck to spill lumber across all lanes of the freeway.  The accident, and resulting massive timber mess, occurred around 5AM.

WSDOT crews had the lumber cleaned up, and all lanes of eastbound I-90, re-opened around 9:30AM.

The right shoulder was opened shortly after the accident to divert traffic onto the SR 18 off ramp and then back onto I-90 as a detour around the crash scene.

The accident and lane closure created a five-mile backup on eastbound SR 18 during the morning commute, as well as extra traffic pressure on SR 202 through downtown Snoqualmie.
