Chance to chat with local Police Officers: ‘Coffee with a Cop’ coming to North Bend

In November when the Snoqualmie Police Department held Coffee with a Cop the Snoqualmie Safeway Starbucks, the low-key event drew quite a few residents and received good community feedback on social media.

This month SPD is bringing Coffee with a Cop to North Bend.. Residents are invited to join Snoqualmie-North Bend Police officers, local Washington State Patrol troopers, Wildlife Enforcement and North Bend Mayor Ken Hearing on Friday, January 12th from 8AM to 10AM at Pioneer Coffee, 202 West North Bend Way.

Coffee with a Cop gives community members an opportunity to discuss concerns or engage in friendly conversation in an effort to improve trust and build relationships. This will be the fourth event held by SPD and WSP.

SPD Chief Phipps said he will be scheduling the event every other month in varying locations to give citizens a chance to have one-on-one conversations with their police officers.

“This is a great event to bring the community together with area law enforcement and engage with one another,” SPD Captain Nick Almquist said. “We look forward to hearing from the citizens we serve.”

According to a city press release, the key to Coffee with a Cop’s success is that it opens the door for interactions outside of the crisis situations that typically bring law enforcement officers and community members together.
