Bev Jorgensen named North Bend Citizen of the Year, dedicated community volunteer honored

At the March 7th North Bend City Council meeting, Mayor Ken Hearing and council members honored longtime resident and dedicated volunteer, Bev Jorgensen, as its 2016 Citizen of the Year.

“The Citizen of the Year award is meant to be given to an individual or business that has shown, through their initiative and actions, that they truly care about the community and whose hard work, spirit and dedication make our community great.” said Mayor Ken Hearing.

According to a city press release, Ms. Jorsensen was selected not only for her work in 2016, but for ongoing and exceptional work within the community that spans many years.

Some of Bev’s noted accomplishments include being a Member of the Snoqualmie Valley Women in Business (when it first started); volunteering with the Festival at Mt Si; adopting families for Christmas and providing meals and gifts; holding an annual Christmas Open House in her home where she would always include a food drive as part of the celebration; Snoqualmie Valley Soccer Representative for 5 years, Coach for Mt Si High School Boy’s and Girls’ Soccer “C” Teams; annual neighborhood 4th of July breakfast hosted at her home; Relay for Life Luminaria Committee for 4 years; Relay for Life Event Coordinator; fundraiser for family displaced during the Cle Elum Taylor Bridge Wildfire; and Life Coach.

Mayor Hearing concluded the presentation by saying, “These are just a few of Bev’s accomplishments that have enriched and impacted our lives here in the Valley. We are truly pleased to recognize her as the North Bend Citizen of the Year and can’t thank her enough for all she has given to our community. We are proud to know her and call her our friend.”

On a personal note…. thanks to Bev. She embodies the welcoming spirit of the Snoqualmie Valley – and is a shining example of positivity and endurance.

  • I had the honor of working with Bev for a couple of years with the Relay for Life event in North Bend. There is no one more deserving of this award. So happy to see this!
